Pikalo led the Lions to a 7-0 record and the top seed in the AMCC championship tournament this past week. Pikalo went undefeated in singles action while earning six doubles wins at No. 3 doubles. He won at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles
Lopez won both of his matches and helped secure a pair of points for the Lions in last Monday's non-conference road win at Waynesburg. Lopez prevailed 6-4, 6-3 in his No. 3 singles match while being part of a 6-0 victory in No. 1 doubles.
Newell went 2-0 in both of his singles and doubles matches on Sunday, helping to lead the Penn State Altoona men's tennis team to a doubleheader sweep of Pitt-Greensburg. In his pair of No. 3 singles matches, he posted 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2 victories. In No. 3 doubles, he was part of a 6-0 win, and he also rattled off a 6-4 triumph in his No. 2 doubles match.
Beard went 2-0 in No. 1 singles matches and 1-1 in No. 1 doubles matches for the Lions last week. In Friday night's tight loss at AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend, the senior won 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 in his No. 1 singles match and suffered a 6-2 loss in No. 1 doubles. In a non-conference victory at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, Nick prevailed 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Beard helped spearhead the Lions' doubleheader sweep of AMCC opponent Carlow on Wednesday, March 4, going 2-0 in both singles and doubles. In his two No. 1 singles matches, he posted 6-0, 6-0 victories. The senior also teamed up with Gabriel Lopez to win both No. 1 doubles matches, taking the first 6-0 and earning a 6-1 decision in the second.
Bochicchio and Nat Rosario won a game at No. 3 doubles, and Bochicchio won three games in the second set of No. 3 singles, as Carlow men's tennis opened its inaugural season against St. Vincent College at Greensburg Racquet club Sunday
